Better Bones, Better Body is written by Dr. Susan E. Brown and published by the Center for Better Bones, which also makes and sells the products she recommends. We would rather you knew that from the first line than found it out later.
Who owns this site and how it is funded
The site is owned and published by the Center for Better Bones in East Syracuse, New York. It is funded by what the Center sells — the Alkaline for Life supplement line formulated by Dr. Brown, along with consultations, courses and books. There is no outside funder, no grant, and no advertiser paying for the content you read here.
So when an article recommends a nutrient we happen to make, that is our own product on our own website, not a paid endorsement of somebody else’s. Nobody pays us to say it.
Amazon links
Some articles link to Dr. Brown’s Amazon store, where the Alkaline for Life line is sold. These are our own products, listed on Amazon so readers can buy them where they already shop. The links carry our Amazon Associates tag so that Amazon credits the referral to us as well. It costs you nothing extra either way.
A smaller number of older links point to books, foods and equipment we did not make and do not sell. Those carry the same tag, which means Amazon pays us a small commission if you buy through one.
We do not choose subjects because they earn a commission, and a commission does not change what the research says.
What we do not do
- We do not accept sponsored content, paid placements, or payment to feature anyone else’s product.
- We do not let product availability decide what the research says. Dr. Brown writes about nutrients we do not sell, and about approaches that involve buying nothing at all.
How we keep the line
Recommendations here come from the research and from Dr. Brown’s clinical experience — not from what is in stock. A great deal of what she has written for forty years is about diet, exercise, testing, and asking your doctor better questions. None of that sells a supplement.
Where an article does point to something we sell, it is backed by cited research you can check yourself. We publish the sources precisely so you do not have to take our word for it.
The Better Bones Foundation
The Better Bones Foundation is a separate entity that supports bone health research and education. It is not the publisher of this site and does not fund it.
Health content and your doctor
Nothing here is medical advice or a substitute for care from your own physician. We do not diagnose, and we do not promise outcomes. Bone health is individual, and what is right for one person is not right for another. Talk to your doctor — and if what you read here helps you ask a better question in that appointment, we have done our job.
